Collegium Heliodori Święcicki

Collegium Heliodori Święcicki was completed and handed over to the University of Poznań (today’s Adam Mickiewicz University) in 1929. The building itself, situated on a right-angled trapezoid plan, is truly imposing. As it was designed in the local variant of the Neo-Renaissance style, it is crested with a high attic divided by numerous pilasters, while its corners are topped out with tower-like extensions. What is more, the architectural design included modernist technical infrastructure to meet educational requirements. After all, Collegium Heliodori Święcicki was put up as a grand European complex to symbolise the power of knowledge and the achievements of a recently reborn country.
